As someone who has lived in the city for a very long time, I can attest that good dining options west of 8th Avenue are hard to come by. That’s why I was so excited to hear about Dos Tres opening on the corner of 10th avenue and, you guessed it, 23rd Street.

The authentic Mexican concept from Marco Britti, the restaurateur behind Calle Dao and Mareluna, has tapped Executive Chef Henry Zamora from The Bazaar and French Laundry, to lead the charge for this expansive 2,700 square foot space.

We checked out the space for happy hour, which is currently being offered everyday from 12pm-7pm, including brunch (lunch service will begin in April)! Since we were in a Mexican restaurant, we had to try the margarita and for $10, you can get a flavored on. I opted for the mango variety and was happy with my choice. A regular margarita, beer, wine or well drinks will all run you $9.

We then moved onto sharable plates and tried a very solid guacamole ($12), chicken and cheese flautas ($12) and crispy wings ($12), which you wouldn’t necessarily associate with this type of concept, but with the flavorful seasoning, fit perfectly into the mix. The dishes were colorfully displayed, so not only were we satiated but it also made for great photos!

We’ve proven Dos Tres is perfect for happy hour, but are excited to go back and try more of the menu from this A-list team. When it’s not happy hour, menu highlights include signature tacos like Birria and Carnitas, and standout entrées like Enchiladas Verdes and Mexican Paella. Signature cocktails are also available, curated by Joy & Libation & Co, and tequila enthusiasts have the option to try flights of the restaurant’s offerings.

Dos Tres is a great space for gathering with friends, family and we’ve even seen dating events happen here! We’re excited to see what they have up their sleeve for Cinco de Mayo, even though we’re well aware that is an Americanized celebration!
