“NYU Tisch was a pivotal turning point in my life,” said Ang Lee. “Once I got to NYU Tisch, I knew I was in the right place. It opened up the whole world to me. Those are the happiest years of my life. My whole career has been an extension of film school. I believe that learning and education are not just a way to get to your purpose, but they are the purpose of life itself. I want to thank Tisch for this award. It means a lot to me.”
The Gala brought together the NYU Tisch community to highlight the school’s immense impact on the arts and celebrate the incredible accomplishments of its alumni, mentors, teachers and friends. The evening’s entertainment featured a performance of “Hope” by Tisch Grad Acting students and performances by the c-Live Band of the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music and the N’Harmonics, including a Madison Love live musical tribute.
The gala exhibited the impressive array and breadth of what NYU Tisch has to offer, including programs in acting, dance, cinema studies, design for stage and film, dramatic writing, film and television, game design, interactive telecommunications, moving image archiving and preservation, musical theatre writing, performance studies, photography, public policy and recorded music.
