We Celebrated with MGMT at the 2024 Whitney Art Party
The Whitney Museum of American Art once again set the stage for an unforgettable evening as it hosted its highly anticipated annual Art Party on January 31, 2024. The sold-out event saw an eclectic mix of guests from various sectors, including art, fashion, and entertainment, come together to celebrate and support the museum's Independent Study Program (ISP).
The botanical-inspired affair, co-chaired by Natalie Ball, Edward Barsamian, Steven Beltrani, Micaela Erlanger, and Kambui Olujimi, captivated attendees from the moment they stepped into the museum's ground floor. Against a backdrop of cascading fresh floral arrangements by the female-founded boutique creative agency East Olivia, guests mingled, danced, and indulged in craft cocktails and signature mocktails while enjoying DJ sets by indie pop duo MGMT and Samantha Urbani.
One of the highlights of the evening was the exclusive preview of the exhibition "Harold Cohen: AARON," which explores the foundational stages of AI in artmaking. Guests had the privilege of experiencing the exhibition before it opened to the public, offering a unique glimpse into the intersection of art and technology.
The Art Party, sponsored by Aesop and Cynthia Rowley, featured culinary delights by Olivier Cheng Catering and libations courtesy of Tequila Casa Dragones and Dry Farm Wines. Notable guests in attendance included actors Emily Hampshire, Katherine McNamara, Sally Pressman, and Yaritza Reyes; media personalities Sofia Franklyn, Pieper James, and Serena Kerrigan; models Emira D'Spain, Audrey Hilfiger, and Johannes Huebl; designers and stylists Wes Gordon, Marty Harper, and Cynthia Rowley; and artists Natalie Ball, Ashley Longshore, and Kambui Olujimi, among others.
The event, hosted by the Museum’s Whitney Contemporaries, served as a vital fundraiser for the Whitney Museum's Independent Study Program (ISP), which has been nurturing emerging artists and scholars since its inception in 1968. Proceeds from the Art Party provide critical support to the program, aligning with the museum's mission to champion living artists throughout their careers.
As the night came to a close, guests left with memories of a vibrant celebration of art, culture, and philanthropy, reaffirming the Art Party's status as a cornerstone of New York City's arts calendar.
