In 2022, after more than two decades and a global health crisis, Smoke Jazz & Supper Club reopened, and is bigger and better than ever before. The expansion of this historic venue provided additional space, allowing for increased distance between patrons without compromising the cherished intimacy and proximity to the stage that have established Smoke as a premier destination for jazz enthusiasts. An evening at Smoke presents a timeless and sophisticated NYC nightclub experience, through it’s two interconnected rooms: The first dedicated to listening, boasting renowned acoustics, candlelit tables, plush red velvet curtains and banquettes, exposed brick walls, antique chandeliers, and iconic jazz photography, the second, a connected lounge featuring a historic, full-length bar and café seating.

Smoke is renowned for its exceptional lineup of talented and iconic jazz performances, featuring legendary musicians, contemporary masters, and emerging talents. What sets Smoke apart is its enchanting dining room illuminated by candlelight, impeccable acoustics, and a menu that showcases classic American cuisine. Every evening, the first set at 7pm acts as a dinner show, exclusively catering to dining guests in the listening room. The menu offers a selection of exquisite dishes, ranging from upscale favorites such as rack of lamb and steak for two, to locally inspired options like grilled Montauk striper or Smoke's signature fried chicken.

During our visit, the Sasha Berliner quintet graced the stage, filling the room with the lively and alluring melodies of the jazz vibraphone. In its choice of musicians, Smoke often defies the stereotypical image of traditional jazz clubs, often associated with esoteric musicians and complex compositions. Instead, it emanates a youthful and vibrant energy. Sasha Berliner, with her cool and tattooed persona, along with her diverse and spirited backing band, epitomizes the new generation of musicians reinvigorating jazz, making it enjoyable and accessible while maintaining an extremely high level of skill and artistic integrity.

This historic and iconic venue has been revitalized, so that even those who have previously visited Smoke will find it a captivating experience worth revisiting. Whether for a memorable date night, special occasion, or as a must-visit destination for out-of-towners, make sure to immerse yourself in a live performance and savor a delightful meal at Smoke Jazz & Supper Club!
