"Dance can sometimes literally save lives," said Marcella Hymowitz, YAGP Board Member and Gala Host. Youth America Grand Prix has been working relentlessly since February 2021 to help Ukrainian students who have been displaced by the war find new dance homes. Nikita Malaki, a 16-year-old, had a performance tonight at Lincoln Center. Nikita is one of 200 Ukrainian dancers who were given scholarships by YAGP to study at prestigious dance schools in Europe and the US, allowing them to continue living and performing in safety. YAGP expresses its sincere gratitude to the Howard G. Buffett Foundation for its kind assistance in enabling it to carry out this crucial work. Nikita, 16, is now receiving instruction at The Rock School for Dance Education in Philadelphia. He played a Gounod Duet with Jade Conner, a classmate.

This season, nearly 15,000 exceptional young dancers auditioned for YAGP in 23 locations across the world. YAGP granted over $500,000 in scholarships to 300+ dancers at the Finals to attend over 40 of the world's greatest dance institutions! Aside from scholarships, over 30 YAGP contestants have already received professional contract offers, with more to come in the weeks following the tournament.
