Fête de la Musique at SummerStage
No summer in New York is complete without good music and Fête de la Musique is here to launch summer in full swing.
Organized by FIAF (French Institute Alliance Francaise), FranceRocks and SummerStage, Fête de la Musique is a music-for-all initiative that originated in France and is celebrated every year internationally during the summer solstice. This year’s event was also special as Fête de la Musique celebrated its 40th anniversary.
Despite the gloomy skies of New York City, Fête de la Musique’s stars shone the brightest. Bon Entendeur, who are the electro-DJ duo, opened the show with their beloved songs like “La Rue Madeira” and “Le Temps est bon.” Afterwards, Hyphen Hyphen took the stage with their electric performances of “Like Boys” and “Too Young.” By then, the crowd was prepared for the final act: MC Solaar.
MC Solaar, who’s a legendary French rapper recognized worldwide, took the stage for two hours, performing his hit songs like “Caroline” and “Solaar pleure,” capturing the crowd in awe. Solaar’s performance left the crowd singing and dancing for the rest of the night under Central Park’s skies.
