Horizon of Khufu: An Immersive VR Expedition to Ancient Egypt - Opening Night

This October, New Yorkers and visitors alike will have the chance to embark on a once-in-a-lifetime journey through time with Horizon of Khufu, an immersive virtual reality experience that has already captivated audiences in London, Paris, and Atlanta. Now making its highly anticipated debut in New York City, this cutting-edge expedition invites participants to explore the intrigue of Ancient Egypt in the heart of Manhattan.

Guests will be transported to the Great Pyramid of Giza—one of the world's seven wonders—where they can unravel the enigmatic history of the Pharaohs. This immersive experience offers an unparalleled cultural exploration through state-of-the-art technology. This adventure through time was brought to New York by innovative virtual reality entertainment company Eclipso and will be held at its newly opened flagship location in Hell’s Kitchen. Powered by the advanced production, technology, and content of international virtual reality leaders, Excurio’s Immersive Expeditions, Horizon of Khufu is poised to become a must-visit attraction for both locals and tourists. The experience promises a captivating journey that merges the past with the future.

“Horizon of Khufu is not just an experience; it’s a portal into one of history’s most fascinating civilizations,” said Antoine Lieutaud, CEO of Eclipso. “Launching in New York City represents a pivotal moment for us as we continue to push the boundaries of immersive entertainment. Our goal is to blend cutting-edge technology with rich storytelling to create a transformative experience for every visitor.”

Spanning 11,000 square feet of interactive space, this 45-minute expedition invites guests aged eight and up to delve into the wonders of Ancient Egypt. From navigating the intricate tombs of Pharaoh Khufu to witnessing the majestic Giza Necropolis, participants will journey across the Nile, attend mummification ceremonies, and experience the grandeur of King Khufu’s final rites. Equipped with a

VR headset, visitors will roam freely, fully immersed in this vividly recreated world. “What sets Horizon of Khufu apart is its ability to engage large groups in a shared, yet personalized, virtual reality adventure,” said Fabien Barati, CEO of Excurio. “Our platform allows for real-time interaction and exploration, creating a dynamic experience that evolves with the movements of each participant.”

Following its success in Europe, Eclipso made its U.S. debut in Atlanta earlier this year, garnering widespread acclaim. Now, with over 600,000 visitors globally, Horizon of Khufu is ready to enchant New Yorkers with its extraordinary blend of history and technology.

Excurio consulted with renowned Egyptologist Dr. Peter Der Manuelian of Harvard University’s Giza Archives Project to develop the content for Horizon of Khufu, which meticulously recreates an ancient world with historical accuracy, providing a true-to-life glimpse into Egypt’s past.

Located at Eclipso Centre, 555 W 57th Street, New York, NY, Horizon of Khufu will be open Tuesday through Sunday with varying hours. Tickets are now available at
