Sumo Wrestlers will descend upon New York June 23 - 25, 2023 at The Armory for Sumo + Sushi, the ultimate interactive sumo experience. Sumo + Sushi is hosted by Sumo legend, Konishiki. With a peak weight of 633 lbs, he is the all-time heaviest wrestler in the history of the sport. Born and raised in Hawaii, Konishiki is also the first non-Japanese-born wrestler to reach ōzeki -the second highest rank in Sumo. This is our third and final stop on our three-city tour. We are so thrilled to have BentOn as our Front Row and Sushi + The Show sushi partner and Chef Omakase as our VIP Sky Suite sushi partner.
Each night of this special three-night event will feature a glimpse into the history and culture of the sport lead by sumo legend Konishiki, demonstrations of winning moves and forbidden moves along with some of the training techniques that are used each day, and a round-robin style exhibition of 12-15 sumo matches between our 6 sumotori followed by a Q&A portion where audience members will have the chance to interact with the sumotori.
At the end of the show, a select few guests will even ‘Get In The Ring!’ to take on the wrestler of their choice.
