First Annual UNICEF Gala

The UNICEF Gala raises funding and awareness for UNICEF’s lifesaving work worldwide. The celebration draws some of the country’s biggest philanthropists alongside UNICEF Ambassadors for a not-to-be-missed evening featuring performances from today’s brightest stars. The 2022 gala will shine a light on the great strength of children and showcase the impact of UNICEF’s work to ensure every child is healthy, educated, respected and protected.

The 2022 UNICEF Gala will be UNICEF USA’s inaugural national celebration of the bold efforts that UNICEF makes for children around the world. This year’s event will kick-off the holiday season and shine a light on the great strength of children while showcasing the impact of UNICEF’s work to ensure every child is healthy, educated, respected and protected.

A devout advocate for children, Purvi Padia will be honored with the Spirit of Compassion Award. In 2018, Purvi partnered with UNICEF USA to launch PROJECT LION – an initiative dedicated to protecting children without families in India. To date, LION has served nearly 600,000 children. Her next endeavor is the LION FUND which will reach nearly 20 million vulnerable children in India over the next 5 years.

The evening is a celebration of UNICEF’s work, as well as a tribute to the outstanding humanitarians who make our work possible. UNICEF works in more than 190 countries and territories around the world and has saved the lives of more children than any other humanitarian organization.

The war in Ukraine has created a child protection crisis of epic proportions. The outflux of people — mostly children and women — fleeing the fighting and escalation in conflict that erupted in late February 2022 dwarfs all other refugee crises of recent years in terms of scale and speed. A portion of the evening’s proceeds will directly support UNICEF’s efforts in Ukraine.
